CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR UNDERGRADUATE BROTHERS
Lambda Chapter’s alumni are pleased to recognize our undergraduate brothers for achieving the highest Spring 2025 cumulative GPA (3.4360) of all the Greek houses at Rensselaer.
Literature, through learning and scholarship, is one of the three guiding pillars of our fraternity. One of our key goals is to provide our brothers with the very best atmosphere in which to learn and succeed.
Joining Delta Phi opens the door to learning new things. Curiosity is one of the building blocks of innovation and leadership and we encourage all our brothers to be constantly learning. It comes in many different forms – learning new life skills that will help them after they leave RPI; making new friends and following their passions through the many clubs available on campus; working together on joint tasks, projects and new adventures. All opportunities to strengthen friendships and brotherhood:
- Many of our brothers take on leadership positions in the chapter that help them learn business skills like financial management and budgeting, marketing, human resources and facility management
- Our network of alumni, who work as leaders in all areas of our technology-focused world, make a concerted effort to impact the future careers and professional development of our younger brothers, and are able to offer them internships, job opportunities and mentoring to help advance their careers.
- Our alumni fund membership dues that allow our brothers to participate in a broad range of club activities and pursue their specific interests
Design Build Fly Club
- Throughout the school year, alumni and undergraduate brothers meet together for dinners, seminars, projects and social events to share ideas and build friendships
- Delta Phi is a social fraternity and our brotherhood offers a wide range of social events for them to join in, including group outings and trips, meals we prepare and enjoy together, social events at the house or just some time relaxing over a game of pool or watching a movie in our dedicated media room
- We include our undergraduate brothers in alumni-initiated projects that will benefit the alumni and the undergraduates and provide opportunities to build new skills – restoring our billiard table; building new furniture and fixtures for the chapter house; volunteering to help in projects that benefit and give back to the local community
Brothers regularly volunteer at a neighborhood soup kitchen We work hard throughout the year to keep Troy clean
- We are building an environment that makes it easier to stay ahead of the demands of their schoolwork – an inventory of electronic prototyping tools that allow brothers to model and create interactive projects; professional in-house printing capabilities; virtual meeting capabilities that make it easy to attend conferences and webinars and conduct interviews at home
Our brotherhood is built on a foundation that has flourished for almost 200 years nationally and for over 160 years here at Rensselaer. The traditions of Delta Phi have instilled a common bond in brothers from year to year. While our traditions have been modified and updated to fit the times, the pillars of brotherhood, morality and literature handed down from our founders have endured and still guide our brothers from their time at university for their entire lives. We believe they apply to our brothers every day.
Brotherhood is the very bond that is forged between all of us while we are here at Rensselaer. We make sure to create an environment at The Academy and through the activities of our chapter where lasting friendships can be made while in school.
Morality applies to the way we all live our lives. That means making the right choices that lead to a good life, and that at Delta Phi this is very, very important. It also means that we think about things related to our social and school life, like respecting our fellow brothers and treating them as family; how and when to use resources like AI in our schoolwork and learning; and not taking inappropriate shortcuts merely for short-term gain.
Literature means learning and scholarship to us. We make an effort to learn from the successes of our alumni, and we share that learning with our younger brothers. In our new Chapter house, we provide a place where everyone can study, work, explore and succeed. We know that adhering to these principles works and we regularly measure how it is reflected in the academic performance of our brothers. We also sponsor scholarship awards for undergraduate academic achievement.
All of this has one common thread – a brotherhood that provides the opportunity to make lifelong friendships with the brothers they live and socialize with in the Chapter house and the alumni who are there to guide them through their time at Rensselaer.
To maximize their fraternity experience at Rensselaer, brothers can choose to live in our state-of-the-art Chapter house, offering large, comfortable single and double rooms, an entire floor of common areas with an commercial-quality kitchen, a substantial dining area, our own billiard room, a media room for movie-watching and gaming, a library for studying and conferencing, and a private parking lot. All a five-minute walk from campus and across from 84-acre Prospect Park.
‘Our Vision for the future is to continue developing strong future community and world leaders and innovators who are at the forefront of every new era of technology. We will achieve our Vision by respecting and following our history of tradition.’
Our Vision for the future is to continue developing strong future community and world leaders and innovators who are at the forefront of every new era of technology. We will achieve our Vision by respecting and following our history of tradition, to help mold better innovators, better leaders and better overall people for their entire lives. We will maintain and enhance our position as a leader of the Greek system at Rensselaer and see that our alumni and undergraduates are constantly working together to make our Vision a reality. We encourage a diverse brotherhood, knowing that exposure to a range of contemporaries with different backgrounds, academic and personal interests, and viewpoints is a healthy way to build more responsible citizens for the future.
One way we achieve this goal is by maintaining a strong and active alumni association. Our alumni own and manage the Chapter house and are actively involved in guiding the undergraduates during their time at RPI. A large number of our alumni volunteer in this effort on a regular basis and contribute to the ongoing support of the chapter. When we purchased and renovated The Academy for our new Chapter house, a team of alumni led the process. Almost half of our living alumni made significant financial contributions to the fund that made all of this happen.
One excellent example shows our desire to make sure we continuously stay ahead of the curve in providing the very best for our undergraduate brothers. After investing over $3.2 Million in our new Chapter house, a group of volunteer brothers working together have embarked on a project to further upgrade the exterior of our building. First, the entire exterior, brick and limestone, was professionally cleaned, removing years of grit and dir
With the cleaning completed, the next step is to install new bronze plaques and flags at the 13th Street and Congress Street entrances. The plaques will feature the Delta Phi badge and will commemorate the 1864 founding of Lambda chapter. An American flag and a Delta Phi flag will be located above the plaques at each entrance and will be illuminated at night. Installation should be complete in January 2026. The final step, expected to be completed in 2026, will be to add exterior building lighting to highlight the entire Chapter house and provide enhanced security to the area around the house.
